A Splash of color

I moved into my house mid-renovation. As you can imagine, it was quite chaotic. Lumber, nails, and boxes were all over the floor. Dust was everywhere from continuous construction. I also moved into a house that had been vacant for at least a year. It was neglected so much that all kinds of things grew on the outside and sheltered many kinds of pests and bugs on the inside. To summarize the experience, it wasn't comfortable and not as glamorized as I'd thought or seen on TV. Haha.

To make it feel like a place I can relax, I need to do something. At the time, it can only be small, as many parts of the house were still either waiting to be renovated or were unfinished projects.
But there was a main wall on the second floor. :) It's supposed to be a main focal point when you walk in. It's huge and houses various opportunities. I want a big piece of artwork on this wall and was searching for months for it on Facebook Marketplace. Eventually, I found the 4 pcs oriental art that I love. The size is perfect and just needs to hang on a bright wall color.
This wall was covered with some type of vinyl panel before. Its dark color made the whole space look darker. So just removing it lets so much light in for the space.

I also got three cabinets from Ikea EKET Cabinet with 2 doors and shelf, white - IKEA and connected them into one big console. It gives a bright and very clean look. I love the look and its affordable price. However, putting together these cabinets can be a bit tricky as you could see from its reviews. But don't fret. It's not as bad as they make it out to be. At $80 per cabinet, the price is amazing! I found this video to be VERY helpful in helping me finish the cabinet.

I went through quite a bit of research on what color should be on this wall. I don't want to trap myself into the typical blue/green wall. I want something new and outside my comfort zone a bit. Pink is also my favorite color, but that is already reserved for my bedroom. I finally landed on the peach tone color that I think is perfect. It's bright but not too overwhelming and can still work with my other favorite colors like blue or green. This is a color from Sherwin Williams called Cosmetic Peach.
I am very happy with the final result! :) The color still keeps the space clean but adds vibrancy to the entrance of my second floor. With projects like this, you can feel how such a small and easy project like adding paint to the wall can make such a huge impact on the home. It gives my home personality and makes this house a little warmer, one stroke of paint at a time! :))
